Character Information Name: Mel Age: 26 Sexual Orientation: Lesbian Homeland: Britain Clothes: A conservative black blouse (collared) tucked into a dark grey skirt - looks like it belongs to a suit -, black panty hose and a pair of simple flats, red lining. There is a slight bulge in her pocket where a small, flat object has been hidden. Likes: The color blue, acting younger than her age, days when the wind is blowing and reality tv. Dislikes: People who state the obvious but don’t know that its obvious, working in customer service, getting up early, dogs, wearing a tie. Positive characteristics: Resourceful, civil, resilient, composed and enigmatic. Negative characteristics: Unsympathetic, dishonest, flippant, rash and opportunistic. Past Two people with strong feelings for you: Danny: Danny is just a boy. Only seventeen, he has known Mel for her entire life, he was even the first one to call her Mel because Melanie was too long for him - too hard for a child to say. Danny is seventeen now and was always close to his sister. It will be hard on him for her to be gone. Cynthia: Cynthia and Mel have known each other for six years but their feelings for each other have never been as strong as recently. Cynthia and Mel were close until Mel and Cynthia’s girlfriend had a few too many drinks together. Cynthia was down one girlfriend and doesn’t know how she will forgive Mel. Roleplay Sample: Mel yawned, leaning back in the cheap desk chair and nearly falling over. The night shifts got long – very long. In all honesty, she didn’t know how she was going to last at this job. It had only been two months and it was driving her crazy. She pushed the mouse forward, the browser blank as it navigated to the next screen. Stupid proxies took forever, Mel thought with an open scowl on her face. The work network didn’t let her go anywhere good though, not that she wanted to watch porn or anything. She just wanted to go on a few chat sites, just something to pass the time. Small town like this, there weren’t a lot of people she connected with. Not to mention there was nothing else to do at 3 am when you were stuck behind a hotel desk. She tugged at the starched collar of her uniform shirt. These blasted things, the tie was already discarded – only moments after the co-worker she relieved left. The uniforms were bad enough without having to wear that blasted thing around your neck. She coughed, ragged nails raking against the back of her neck, breaking the skin so it turned red. But it was sweet relief. She took another deep breath and batted at the mouse. Nothing yet so she closed her eyes, just for a moment… She woke to a man’s wrinkled face just inches before her own, his massive body slung over her counter so she could see every pore, every single hair. Mr. Ramsey was not an attractive man. She sputtered, jumping to her feet… “Go home Mel, your shift is over. I’ll talk to you about this later.” It was almost a relief to walk outside that day, start the long walk towards home and step headfirst into a vortex.
